Here are some of the most notable script sales from June 2021.
– Original Film has picked up Macmillan Hedges’ spec Relay, which has been described as a sci-fi tentpole movie.
– Walt Disney Pictures and Lucasfilm have tapped Matthew Robinson to script their Star Wars: Rogue Squadron film. Kathleen Kennedy will produce, and Patty Jenkins will direct as previously announced in December 2020.
– Polly Pockets are getting a movie! Lena Dunham will write and direct for MGM, Mattel Films, and Good Thing Going. Lily Collins is set to star.
– Spyglass Media Group and Good Fear have picked up Paul Haapaniemi’s thriller Deadpoint. Adam Stein and Zach Lipovsky will direct.
– Josh Cooley will write a Tower of Terror movie for Disney.
– Trek Entertainment Group and MegaMinda Media are moving forward with Daryl Spivey’s Greenwood Avenue. Morris Chestnut will produce.
– Walter Hill is writing and directing the western thriller Dead for a Dollar for Myriad Pictures and Polaris Pictures. The script is based on a treatment by Matt Harris, and Christoph Waltz and Willem Dafoe will star.
– Searchlight Pictures and Maven Screen Media have picked up writer/director Camille Griffin’s sci-fi/drama script Conception. Keira Knightley is in talks to star.
– Metro International Entertainment and Quadrant Motion Pictures are moving forward with the drama/fantasy/sci-fi thriller The Invisibles from writer/director Andrew Currie. Tim Blake Nelson and Lucy Liu will star.
– Marcus Gardley will write the Marvin Gaye biopic What’s Going On for Warner Bros. and Mad Chance. Allen Hughes will direct.
– MadRiver Pictures, Paul Feig’s Feigco Entertainment, and Tiffany Haddish’s She Ready will produce Throw It Back, a musical dramedy written by Shadae Lamar Smith and Rochée Jeffrey. Smith will direct, and Haddish will star alongside Shahadi Wright Joseph.
– Blacula is getting a remake. Deon Taylor and Micah Ranum will script the film for MGM, BRON Studios, and Hidden Empire Film Group. Taylor will also direct. The original 1972 film was written by Joan Torres and Raymond Koenig.
– Free Association will produce Pussy Island. Zoë Kravitz and E.T. Feigenbaum wrote the script, and Kravitz will also direct and produce. Channing Tatum is set to produce and star.
– Sony and Matt Tolmach Productions is moving forward with Jack Black and Ice Cube–starrer Oh Hell No. Kitao Sakurai will direct, and Scot Armstrong, Rodney Rothman, Tracy Oliver, and Jessica Gao are currently credited with the script.
