Here are some of the most notable script sales from March 2021.
– Paramount Players and ‘Twas Entertainment have acquired Quinceanerx from screenwriter Alvaro Garcia Lecuona. Kevin Lima will produce and direct.
– Ubisoft Film & Television is moving forward with Replay, a romantic dramedy written by Annabel Seymour. Seymour participated in Ubisoft’s 2020 Women’s Film & TV Fellowship before they acquired her script.
– Woodward Original and Red Leaf Entertainment will produce Mike Young’s heist comedy Stealing Jokes. Aside from writing, Young will also direct and produce.
– ThunderCats, ho! The animated series and toy line is getting a new film over at Warner Bros. Simon Barrett and Adam Wingard will provide the script, and Wingard will also direct. Ted “Tobin” Wolf created the franchise in 1985.
– Over at Rough House Pictures and Spire Animation Studios, Kevin Barnett and Chris Pappas will script Trouble, a family adventure/fantasy based on a story by Danny McBride and Brad Lewis.
– Paramount Pictures and Hasbro Studios are teaming up on another Transformers movie. Marco Ramirez will script, and Angel Manuel Soto will direct.
– Sony, PlayStation Productions, and 87eleven will produce an adaptation of the Sony/Sucker Punch video game Ghost of Tsushima. Chad Stahelski is set to produce and direct. The 2020 action-adventure game was written by Ian Ryan, Liz Albl, Patrick Downs, and Jordan Lemos and directed by Nate Fox and Jason Connell.
– Rebellion’s video game Sniper Elite will be getting an adaptation from Marla Studios. Gary Graham and Brad Peyton will write, and Peyton will direct. The first game in the series, released by Rebellion in 2005, was directed by Jason and Christopher Kingsley.
– Terry Matalas and Travis Fickett will script a film adaptation of Bewitched for Sony and Davis Entertainment. The original series was created by Sol Saks and was previously adapted as a very charming (and underrated!) movie by Nora Ephron.
– Patrick Cunnane will script the remake for The President’s Analyst for Paramount, Day Zero Productions, and Mainstay Entertainment. The 1967 film was written by Theodore J. Flicker. Trevor Noah will produce.
– Steven Spielberg and Tony Kushner are teaming up again to make a movie based on Spielberg’s childhood in Phoenix, Arizona. Spielberg will produce and direct, and Michelle Williams is in talks to star.
– Blumhouse Productions and Paper Pictures have acquired the romantic drama Coming Around Again, written by Lawrence Michael Levine. Sophia Takal will direct.
– Sony Pictures Animation is moving forward with the awesomely titled K-Pop: Demon Hunters with a screenplay by Hannah McMechan and Danya Jimenez, who write under the moniker Hanya. Maggie King and Chris Appelhans will direct.
– Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s production company Lord Miller has acquired the 2020 Black List comedy Forever Hold Your Peace, written by Emma Dudley.
– Paramount Pictures and J.J. Abrams’s Bad Robot are moving forward with an untitled Star Trek project to be written by Kalinda Vazquez and based on her concept. The franchise was created by Gene Roddenberry in 1966 and has spawned a few movies and shows. Maybe you’ve seen some of them!
– Fuzzy Door Productions is producing screenwriter/director Amy Jo Johnson’s drama Ends of the Earth.
