Here are some of the most notable script sales from September 2021.

– Twentieth Century Studios purchased up Shawn Simmons’ untitled action/thriller script about a former teenage getaway driver who is drawn back into the life she left behind. Deadpool and Zombieland’s Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick will produce.
– Common’s Stardust Films and Everlast Pictures will produce writer/director Eric Amadio’s sports drama The Faith of Long Beach. Common will also co-star.
– Peter Saji will write and direct a film based on Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff’s hit song “Summertime” from their 1991 album Homebase. Screen Gems, Davis Entertainment, and Smith’s Westbrook Studios will produce.
– Almost Never Films is moving forward with The Plus One, written by Austin Highsmith Garces and Brendan Bradley. Ashanti is set to produce and star.
– Verdi Productions is moving forward with The Junkyard Dogs, a family comedy written by Jacob Cooney and Jamie Sykes. Cooney will direct, and Denise Richards is attached to star.
– Transactional Pictures (Steven Soderbergh) has acquired writer/director Eddie Alcazar’s thriller Divinity.
– Randy McKinnon will script the Lost Boys remake/reboot for Warner Bros., Automatik Entertainment, and Grandview. Jonathan Entwistle is set to direct, and Noah Jupe and Jaeden Martell are attached to star. The original film was written by Janice Fischer, Jeffrey Boam, and James Jeremias and directed by Joel Schumacher. That’s a lot of J names.
The Bodyguard is also getting a remake. Warner Bros., Rideback, and Kasdan Pictures have tapped Matthew López to script. The 1992 film was written by Lawrence Kasdan and directed by Mick Jackson.
– Erlingur Thoroddsen will write and direct the English-language remake of his 2017 Icelandic film Rift for Wayward Entertainment, XYZ Films, and Branded Pictures Entertainment.
– Universal Pictures and Chris Pratt’s Indivisible Productions picked up the action/comedy Stranded Asset from writers Sam Richardson and Jen D’Angelo. Richardson will also star.
– Christopher Nolan will write/direct an untitled Oppenhemier movie for Warner Bros. Universal Pictures. Cillian Murphy will star, and Emma Thomas will produce alongside Nolan through their company Syncopy Films.
– 33 years later, and Twins is getting a sequel titled Triplets. Dylan Dawson and Lucas Kavner are providing the script. Ivan Reitman is returning to direct and produce, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito to star, and Tracy Morgan is joining as the titular third brother.
– Paramount Players, Original Film, and Jim Wedaa Productions are producing Koreatown Ghost Story based on the 2021 short film written and directed by Minsun Park and Teddy Tenenbaum and starring Margaret Cho. All three will return for the adaptation.
– Writer/director Paul Schrader’s next film will be produced by HanWay Films, Kojo Studios, and Northside Services. The crime/thriller Master Gardener will star Joel Edgerton and Sigourney Weaver.
– Twentieth Century and Broken Road are moving forward with a sequel to this year’s Vacation Friends titled Honeymoon Friends from writer Clay Tarver, who will possibly direct. The original’s stars John Cena, Lil Real Howery, Yvonne Orji, and Meredith Hagner will reprise their roles. Tarver directed the first film and co-wrote it alongside Tom Mullen, Tim Mullen, Jonathan Goldstein, and John Francis Daley.
