Recent Script Sales - May


May was a fantastic month for spec sales.  Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa sold his remake of the 1976 horor "Carrie."  Yogi and Boo Boo are back in Yogi Bear 2, written by Joshua Sternin and Jeffrey Ventimilia.  In what sounds reminiscent of Terminator 2, Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant penned the film "The Machine," about a humaniod robot discovered and befriended by a young boy.  Vin Diesel to produce and star.  Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg are teaming up again for the film "Turkey Day," another Adam McKay project, pitched by Robert Carlock and Scott Silverie.  And "Responsible Adults," a romantic comedy about a 30-year-old woman falling for a 22-year-old guy, only to find out that she used to be his babysitter 15 years earlier, sold this month.   Script is written by Alex Schemmer, with Katie Holmes to star.

Other script sales include:

-The Girlfriend Equation, written by Tim Rasmussen and Vince Di Meglio, a romcom about a Harvard student pursuing the love of his life through complex math equations.

-Let it Snowpitch by Jordon Roter, is a teen comedy about a snowstorm crippling a town on Chrismas Eve.

-Thor 2, written by Don Payne (also wrote Thor)

New Writers Database members may submit TWO free entries to the 2012 Script Pipeline Competitions for a limited time between now and 8/31/11. After sign up, scripts may be sent to for processing.

Through a composite directory, Script Pipeline has gathered the specific needs and submission guidelines of production and management companies, literary agencies, independent producers, and creative executives searching for scripts. Along with extensive resources, this information is available in the members-only Writers Database, where users may search through 1,300-plus listings.

Database members also have the ability to send queries/loglines for FREE review as well as inquire about writing, film, and the industry in general.

Deadline Approaching: Horror Screenplay Contest

Horror Screenplay Contest


Hollywood, CA - The creators of and Executive Producer, Michael David Jensen present the 2011 Horror Screenplay Contest.

The mission of the Horror Screenplay Contest - is to further promote the horror genre in screenplay form. The contest is open to all writers, eighteen years and older. The contest is limited to the first 600 entries and the submission deadline is July 20, 2011. Writers may also submit their material online.

The 2011 Horror Screenplay Contest is sponsored by: Brain Damage Films, Gorilla Software,,, Cherub Productions,, Final Draft, Palace of Horror, The Haunted Studio and Instock Costumes.

Winners of the 2011 contest will receive cash and industry related prizes in addition to having their material submitted to Hollywood producers, agents and studios.
