Grand Prize Winner Pro Losers by Dan Perlman Dan Perlman is a stand-up comedian and writer from New York City. Dan performs stand-up every night at some of the top clubs and alternative rooms in the city, recently headlining Caroline’s on Broadway. Dan created and wrote an animated series, That’s My Bus!, which received a pilot order from FOX after winning 1st place at the Montreal Just For Laughs Festival. Dan has appeared on TruTV, MTV2, and as a cast member on MTV’s Vidiots. Emily recently directed MiTu’s original pilot “Beauty School” which screened at CES 2017. She’s worked with Pepsi, Univision, and NickMom on multiple campaigns as writer and director. Grand Prize Winner Snoopy by Alexandra Allred Alexandra Allred won the U.S. Nationals in September 1994, making sports history as she was named to the first women’s bobsled team. She was named Athlete of the Year by the United States Olympic Committee for her sport and made international news as she was also pregnant at the time. She appeared in Sports Illustrated, a PBS documentary, HBO Sports and USA Today while she fought the long battle to have women’s bobsledding included in the Olympic Games, promptly retired and began playing professional women’s football for a feature with Sports Illustrated. She became an adventure writer while teaching martial arts, kickboxing, boxing, spinning, bootcamp, and pilates at a community college and gym outside Dallas, Texas. As a kid, she grew up developing a huge passion for lasagne and books–and the latter encouraged her to start writing short stories and a novel she’ll finish one day (as she’s promised to its characters a long time ago). Grand Prize Winner Jack Curious by Bryce McLellan Bryce McLellan is a writer/director all the way from the Land Down Under. While he hasn’t wrestled a croc and never rode a kangaroo to school, he is keen on calling everyone “mate”. After graduating with a film major from Macquarie University, Sydney in 2011, he worked as an editor on a number of network TV shows for MTV and ABC. Always looking for his next personal project, a chance to travel to the Democratic Republic of Congo in 2012 birthed Jesus in Congo, a documentary he filmed, wrote and directed. It was nominated for best documentary at the 2015 Pan Pacific Film Festival. Grand Prize Winner Cornelius & Toots: Paranormal Investigators (Animated Comedy) by Simon Chong and Andy Farrant Simon Chong was born in Wales but now lives in London, where he is creative director of his own animation studio, Headspin Media. Also a London resident, Andy Farrant writes, hosts, and produces videos for his YouTube channel, Outside Xbox, which has hundreds of thousands of subscribers. Long-time friends, Simon and Andy’s first collaboration is Cornelius & Toots: Paranormal Investigators and the project is a very hands-on production, with Andy writing, Simon animating and directing, and both of them providing many of the voices throughout.
