Jamey is a British Screenwriter and Development Consultant based in Los Angeles, working on both US and UK features. He has also written Vertical Streaming Dramas for Vigloo and Shorties, among others.
Jamey read Experimental Psychology & Neuroscience at Oxford University, planning to be a therapist before deciding fictional people were easier to help. He then did the Producing MA at the NFTS before beginning his career as assistant to director David Yates on the Harry Potter films, where he also wrote additional spells, and the Wizarding Newspaper, and made his simultaneous acting debut and swansong in the pivotal role of “Newspaper Vendor” in Order of the Phoenix.
He subsequently spent many years in development roles in the UK. He was Development Executive at the BFI Film Fund (where he developed scripts that include Pride, Frank, Lady Macbeth and God's Own Country), and for Paul Abbott (Shameless, State of Play), VP Creative at Elton John’s Rocket Pictures, Development Producer at Simon Pegg and Nick Frost’s Stolen Picture and Head of Development for Oscar-winning filmmaker Steve McQueen (12 Years a Slave).
In 2023, he moved from his native London to join the Screenwriting MFA at USC's School of Cinematic Arts, where he was awarded the Annenberg Fellowship and Jack Oakey Comedy award, graduating in 2025.
Jamey is drawn to clever characters who are hopelessly underequipped for life. He likes a genre-mashup, often with a vein of surreal comedy. He lives in North Hollywood with his Border Terrier, Cosmo, who wants to direct.
