Jeff Macolino & DJ Gilbert

The Write-In

2025 First Look Project - Runner-up (TV (Half-hour))

Before diving into DJ Gilbert as a writer, we probably should call attention to his day job. DJ is a certified past life regressionist, which means he works one-on-one with individuals using hypnosis to help them revisit past lives. This work has given him a deeper understanding of how the past, whether literal or symbolic, continues to shape behavior in the present.

As a writer, DJ is focused on character-driven stories that explore time, identity, and the long shadow of the past as it magnifies the future. His scripts tend to place characters in situations where avoidance is no longer possible, forcing them to confront who they are, who they were, and who they may be becoming. He received his certification in television writing from UCLA Extension in 2020.

His writing spans comedy, drama, action-adventure, and science fiction. He has also written a romantic dramedy titled The Past Life Regressionist, which he likes to call “the greatest love story of all time.”

Known professionally as Daniel, “The Past Life Regressionist,” he also hosts the podcast Timeless Spirituality, where he explores consciousness, metaphysics, and the nature of time.

DJ lives in Los Angeles and continues to write by night, while “time traveling” during the day.
