2026 Screenwriting Contest - Semifinalist

Jonah Fujikawa is an Asian American actor, writer, and producer based in Austin, TX. He graduated from Texas State University in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in Performance and Production for Film and Theatre. Since then, he co-started his production company, Trustfall Collaborations, with Alexander Hiers, in 2020. His scripts have won several awards including best original script from Champs-Elysees Film Awards, Hollywood Blood Horror Festival, Madrid International, and Miami International. His play, A League of Her Own, also toured several states and won a special B. Iden Payne award for outstanding technical achievement. While creating films, he ventured into the literary world, writing and publishing three children’s books and one poetry memoir. Jonah aims to create art where minorities and the underrepresented can be seen and heard.

Duncan Smith grew up in Houston, Texas before being one of the first to graduate from Texas State University with a degree in film production. After obtaining his degree, he worked in the industry under several departments for large scale productions such as Love & Death, and Spy Kids: Armageddon and was also the editor for the documentary The Weight of Ashes. He is known for subversive genre films that focus on ostracised characters in desperate situations. His many short films have been recognized in multiple film festivals. He was an official nominee at the Square Peg Social, a finalist in the Texas Short Film Festival where his short film Body Language was nominated for “Best Suspense Thriller," and is the creator of the celebrated Tales of Phantasmagoria series.
