
Kyle Sims is a filmmaker from Buffalo, NY. He graduated from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts in 2018 as a Film/TV major.
His senior thesis film Our Boy won the Wasserman Undergraduate Directing Award and Best Achievement in Experimental Film at NYU’s 2019 First Run Film Festival. Our Boy also earned a National Board of Review Student Grant and premiered at the Slamdance Film Festival in 2020.
His short film Galapagos (feat. Catherine Curtin) premiered at the Aspen Shortsfest in April, 2023, where it won a Special Mention for Comedy before releasing on Short of the Week.
An editor by day, Kyle edited the feature film Cicada (dir. Matthew Fifer) which was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award in 2021. He also co-edited the feature documentary A House Is Not A Disco (dir. Brian J. Smith) which premiered at SXSW in 2024.
He currently lives in Los Angeles.
