Remy Abrams

Sunny Side Down

2026 TV Writing Contest - Semifinalist

The youngest of three sisters, Remy learned early that the fastest way to stop a fight is to make everyone laugh. Growing up in a loud, boundaryless pizza bagel family on the Jersey Shore, she developed a keen eye for the messy, unpredictable, and deeply funny moments that define real life. Today, she writes bold dark comedies about dysfunctional families, complicated women, and people whose worst decisions are fueled by their best intentions. Her stories balance outrageous set pieces with emotional honesty, exploring how humor becomes both a weapon and a love language.

Remy graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts, earning her BFA in Writing for Screen and Television through the John Wells Division. Since then, she has worked alongside comedy manager Barry Katz, Fox Entertainment Studios, and several production companies, experiences that have deepened her love of character-driven storytelling. Her scripts have placed in prominent competitions, such as Austin Film Festival, Network ISA, and Script Pipeline, as well as landed on notable lists on Black List. Remy is drawn to characters who love each other fiercely, hurt each other constantly, and somehow keep showing up anyway. She believes every family is stranger than fiction once the front door closes, and that writing about the chaos of life is far more fun than living it.
