
Wendy Chen, originally from Beijing, is a writer and director who crafts emotionally resonant stories about cultural identity, generational distance, and the quiet endurance of love. She holds an MFA in Dramatic Writing from NYU Tisch and a BFA in Film Production from Emerson College.
Before filmmaking, Wendy spent a decade as a professional badminton player on China’s National Team. Her background in elite athletics shapes her discipline, intuition, and the balance of precision and vulnerability in her storytelling.
Her feature script, HI JACK, is a psychological coming-of-age road film centered on sexual harassment. It won Best Feature Script at the New York International Film Awards and was recognized by the Cannes International Screenplay Awards and the Los Angeles International Screenplay Awards.
