Script Pipeline TV Finalist Signed by Stonesong

May 9, 2025

This one is best-expressed through a timeline ...

  • Laura Bensick’s The Mother is awarded runner-up in the 2016 Script Pipeline TV Writing competition.
  • She sells a couple shows to Fox and a streamer over the last few years, including Everyday Insanity with Sterling K. Brown (This is Us) attached.
  • Adapts her TV pilot of The Mother into a novel because TV itself is everyday insanity ...
  • The Book Pipeline team reads the book (it’s phenomenal btw, as expected) and connects her with lit agents in April 2025.
  • She signs with agent Melissa Edwards at Stonesong.

A totally easy process spanning a breezy … nine years.

From Laura:

"The Pipeline team has been amazingly helpful since The Mother was a finalist in the Script Pipeline TV competition years ago. It's a story that has stayed close to my heart so I ended up adapting it into a novel. When I shared that with the Book Pipeline execs, they connected me with agent Melissa Edwards at Stonesong and I'm thrilled to have signed with her! Clearly Pipeline is angling to be in the future book acknowledgments with this incredible support (and spoiler alert: they will be)."

It become the first Book Pipeline / Script Pipeline "hybrid" success story in Pipeline history.

Her passion for storytelling led her to obtain a […]
